Products & pricing units

Products are everything the configurator can sell that isn't food & drink: venue hire, staff, A/V, decor, late licences, transfers, cake-cutting fees. Anything you'd put on an invoice as a line item.

Pricing units

Every product has a price and a price unit. The widget multiplies them as appropriate.

Adding a product

Open Products → New product. Fields:

• Location — leave blank to apply across all locations, or pick a venue to scope it.
• Category — free-text label that groups items in the configurator. We recommend a small list (e.g. venue_hire, staff, av, extras) and reusing it.
• Name & description — what guests see. Description supports up to 2,000 characters.
• Price — entered in pounds; stored internally as pence.
• Price unit — see table above.
• VAT rate (%) — defaults to 20% in the UK. Set to 0 for VAT-exempt items.
• Default — pre-selects this product in the configurator. Use sparingly — typically only for venue hire.
• Event types — restrict to certain event types only.
• Active — uncheck to hide without deleting.

The "venue_hire" category

Products with the category venue_hire are treated specially: they're shown alongside the location step rather than in the add-ons step. Use this category for the base hire fee, and other categories for everything else.

Sort order

Products within a category are ordered by an integer sort_order field, ascending. Tie-break is alphabetical. Edit the sort order from the product list view.

Examples from a typical wedding venue

VAT

Set the VAT rate per product. The widget calculates VAT on each line individually (line total × rate) and rolls them up into the total. See Currency & VAT.
